Primary caries

An incipient cavity occurs when bacteria in the mouth convert sugars into acids, which attack the protective tooth enamel. This can lead to the formation of a small hole in the enamel. Regular oral hygiene and dental checkups are crucial to prevent cavities or treat them at an early stage. To prevent a cavity from growing, the affected part of the tooth is removed using drills and then filled.
Materials
In most cases we apply a white filling. We use high-quality materials such as glass ionomer cement and compomer, but composite is the most commonly used material in our practice. The use of amalgam is a thing of the past. Glass ionomer and compomer are used in specific places in the teeth due to their lower strength. Glass ionomer is suitable for vulnerable areas in both primary and permanent teeth, where little force is exerted during chewing. Compomer is mainly used in baby teeth, because baby teeth and molars wear out faster. Compomer wears along with the milk teeth, so that the fillings do not protrude above the tooth.
