Bacteriological research

Bacterial infections are an everyday occurrence in dentistry. They play a crucial role in several conditions, including tooth decay, endodontic infections, gum infections, periodontal disease and oral abscesses. In cases of severe periodontal disease, it may sometimes be necessary to perform an additional bacteriological analysis. If your practitioner knows the specific bacteria that are located under the gums, targeted treatment can be initiated. In cases of severe periodontal disease, microbiological testing can help identify the bacteria living beneath the gums. With this diagnosis, targeted treatment can be initiated, possibly using antibiotics. After treatment, a second microbiological examination can indicate whether further treatment is necessary. In addition, it may be useful to perform microbiological research before placing implants to prevent subsequent inflammation around the implant.
